Vale Nickel Discs produced at the Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery were developed by Vale Limited to satisfy the need for a form of primary nickel with improved handling and melting characteristics.

The purity of this product is suitable for the production of most cast and wrought alloys containing nickel, including low alloy steels and cast irons, Ni-Hard and Ni-Resist, cast heat-resistant alloys, copper-base alloys and stainless steel.

Because of its form and improved melting characteristics, Vale Nickel Discs offer a convenient and efficient way to make ladle additions for the production of low-alloy cast irons and steels. The flattened-sphere shape is ideal for mechanical and automated handling and charging operations in BOF and AOD furnaces. Vale Nickel Discs can also be used for precise final adjustment of composition in induction furnaces.

Vale Nickel Discs are a general-purpose charge nickel with dependable and consistent purity, ideal for small and large foundries and mints.

Quality Management Systems for the production and packaging of Vale Nickel Discs have been registered and comply with the requirements of ISO Standard 9001:2000.
