Miller
and Company LLC is a leading supplier of pig iron, and exclusive distributor
of Sorelmetal in
the United States. Pig iron is a principal component of the charge make-up
used by high quality ferrous foundries and steel mills. An alloy of iron
and carbon, pig iron is manufactured from iron ore in either a blast
furnace or electric arc furnace smelting process, and is used to provide
metallurgical control over base iron and final melt chemistries of iron
and steel melting operations.
For ductile iron
foundries, Miller supplies high purity iron known around the world
as Sorelmetal produced by QIT in Sorel, Quebec Canada and its affiliate
RBM in Richards Bay, South Africa. Owned by Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium,
both facilities are ISO 9002 certified.
For gray iron foundries
and steel mills, Miller sources and distributes pig iron produced
by a variety of sources. All pig iron is subject to Miller's rigorous
certification and quality assurance program, to ensure dependable sourcing
and consistent properties.
Stocks are maintained
throughout the United States, including multiple Great Lakes ports.
In addition, inventories are maintained at multiple dock locations
on the Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Rivers.
